2018 is a year of great significance when Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un performed immortal exploits to be specially recorded in the history for his energetic diplomatic activities to ensure global peace and prosperity.
He paid the second visit to China’s Dalian in May and met again with Xi Jinping, and the third visit to China in June.
At the meeting and talks with Xi Jinping, he said he was so happy about and held dear the current reality that the two parties have promoted strategic collaboration and built up confidence in each other, and voiced his resolve and will to keep developing closer ties of friendship, unity and cooperation between the parties and peoples of the two countries.
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un met with Donald J. Trump, president of the United States of America, on Sentosa Island, Singapore, on June 12 and held an epoch-making DPRK-US summit for the first time in the history of the two countries, which opened up a new chapter of bilateral relations.
At his one-on-one talks with Trump, he made such meaningful words that it was really not that easy we have got to where we are, adding that, though we were once hostage to the past and had our eyes and ears covered by ingrained prejudice and practices, we have braved it out and we are now here at the new starting point.
Trump was hopeful that the summit would lead to the improvement of bilateral relations, and attributed the current atmosphere of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and beyond, which was teetering on the brink of military conflict even some months ago, to the proactive peace initiatives Kim Jong Un has taken from the outset of this year.
The two leaders agreed that it is important to observe the principle of taking step-by-step and simultaneous action in the course of the effort to ensure peace, stability and denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
Western media gave wide coverage of the Singapore summit, noting that it was a mega event that would shake heaven and earth and that Kim Jong Un led the summit to epochal and successful talks in a day by dint of his exceptional and candid remarks, bold and unhesitating behaviour, adaptation to circumstances, sense of humor and unexpected and outstanding diplomatic skills.
The Supreme Leader, on June 10 during his visit to Singapore for the first historic DPRK-US summit and talks, met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Presidential Palace.
He also met with heads of states and delegations of different countries that visited the DPRK this year and deepened the ties of peace and friendship with them.

His energetic diplomatic activities attracted the focus of the international community.
The Iranian Ilna carried a special write-up, titled, “Unique diplomacy” together with his photos on its website on November 26, which read as follows: What is noteworthy in Kim Jong Un ’s diplomacy is that it is very blitz-like and exceptional. His dynamic diplomacy with which he brought about a series of historic events through his diplomatic activities such as three rounds of China tours and the DPRK-US summit in Singapore is stealing the limelight of the world public.
Another notable point in his diplomacy is that it is extremely comprehensive. His diplomatic activities cover the whole world. He expands the scope of his diplomacy in an all-round way by a new method under a new situation in the new era.
“Chairman Kim Jong Un expands the scope of his diplomatic stage”, “full-scale external activities” and “strategically outstanding leader”—these are the comments of foreign media on his diplomatic activities.
He steers the cause of global independence and peace, going beyond the established diplomatic customs and formalities.
